How to use Facebook Groups
Whether you start your own group or you linger in other groups, there is an etiquette you can use to make yourself a more valuable member or contributor. Here are some important things to remember when playing within them:
Introduce yourself: When you are new to a group, jump on in and introduce yourself. Start a thread, or join a thread. Keep it to the topic of the group. This is a great way to get to know people. Also don’t forget to say “Hi” to other members when they introduce themselves to you.
Be helpful: Answer questions within the group, especially they are in the realm of your expertise. If you find content that you think will be beneficial, share with the group.
Share discoveries: People love to learn so if you had a problem and you found a solution share with the group how you overcame the issue. People learn through stories. This is a great way to make a deeper connection with other members.
Snapshot: Share snapshots of your life. We gravitate to people who are like us or those we would love to be like. Showcasing your life helps to make you real. Sharing photos is a great way to give context to who you are.
Celebrate: When you accomplish something, first give yourself a fist pump in the air…and then share. Don’t forget to congratulate others who have something to celebrate.
Ask questions: Humans love to help others, we love to share information. So ask away. This is a great way to help you with content as you can gauge issues other people have. Have a rule for yourself—ask a question, answer a question.
Be consistent: Set regular times to be online and post, comment, like, and share regularly. This helps keep you in front of mind with the others in the group..
