What do you think of Tonga?

Ive been asked alot about what i think about Tonga? And it has shocked everyone to learn that i have never been there!

Yip Im building a house in Tonga and i have never been there

Everyone knows the right way to do things - explore the location, check out the land and then plan the house. Due to many different circumstances we didnt end up doing it that way.

My goal ultimately was to buy land and build in NZ but due to the housing market and the fact we already had land in Tonga from my husbands family we thought this would be a great way to build the house cheaper and help the family out at the same time.

This was the house that we would learn from. Like a little testing ground.

We planned to send the first container and head over a few months later once they started framing up the house. But as you know Covid hit so that meant we were NZ bound.

Project managing from NZ has been difficult. Explaining what we want to the builders doesnt nessasrily mean it gets done or it does get done but not how we wanted.

I could talk about the many issues we have had but i think we will save that for another post.

I am looking forward to heading to Tonga when the boarders open. I imagine it to be alot like rarotonga but more untouched by tourism.

I guess ill let you know when i go there !
