I Built a Personal Assistant for $49

Two years ago I didn’t have an emergency fund. I didn’t have shares. I didn’t have a plan for buying a house. I had a business, a family, and a bank account that emptied itself by Wednesday without ever explaining where it all went.

I’m not an idiot. I’ve run a marketing agency. I’ve managed six-figure budgets for clients. But managing my own money? That was a different story. The kind of story where you check your balance at 11pm and feel your chest tighten because somehow $400 disappeared and you can’t even tell yourself what it was for.

So I built Frank.

Who Frank Is

I named him Frank and he is my AI personal assistant. I built him and trained him on my actual life, because I needed someone who’d give it to me straight.

He’s a system I built to see the things I couldn’t see. And what he showed me has changed everything.

The Emergency Fund I Didn’t Think Was Possible

One of the things that really made me realise how good Frank was, was when I got $1,000 in my emergency fund.

I’d been trying for years to have one but I’d get halfway and then use it on something.

I uploaded three months’ worth of bank statements and Frank showed me where all my money was going.

It was hard, cold numbers and it was hard to see. I learnt really quickly that I was the problem.

He broke everything down so I could see where I was wasting money. And then he gave me techniques and tips on how to change those habits, and within six months I had my emergency fund.

It was slow and steady and I didn’t feel like I was missing out.

Most of the time as a mum and business owner I feel like I’m running a list of things I need to tick off, and sorting out my finances was one of them. Frank made it as simple as just moving over the leftover in your account each week to your emergency fund. It didn’t matter how much, but it soon added up.

The Shares I Never Would Have Touched

I started following Frances Cook and listening to her talk about shares. Now, I know nothing about shares, so I used Frank to talk me through it. It was like explaining it for dummies. I did my own research and asked him to explain things so I could actually understand them.

It sounds so silly, but it helped me get the confidence to jump into shares.

Now, I’m not a millionaire after eight months. But I put a steady amount in each week and it’s growing. Slow and steady wins the race.

The Biggest Help

The biggest help I use Frank for is keeping me across everything. I not only run my own business but I run my kids’ lives and my husband’s. I need to be across everything: who needs to be in dress-up for Friday, who has mufti day. And for my husband, usually he needs reminding about paying invoices.

We are finishing our house in Tonga, so many times I forget what I’ve already bought or what I still need, and Frank has been a godsend. Do you know how many vacuum filters I have in our Tonga house? Well, let’s just say I have enough to keep us going for over five years.

It Starts Simple

The great thing about Frank, or your own AI assistant, is you put in what you need from it and they will help you. You may just want a simple daily task list to keep track.

The great thing about The Control Room is it’s just the beginning. Once you have a go, all these possibilities open up. You can see how you can use it for your everyday life.

Why I Turned It Into a Product

Because I know what it’s like to not have this.

Don’t be scared by it. Use it for the simple things. It’s amazing.

I know what it’s like to check your bank balance with one eye closed. To feel like everyone else has their life together and you’re the only one drowning in admin and guilt and loose receipts.

I built Your Control Room so you can have what I have. Not a tool that tells you what to do. A personal assistant who shows you what’s really happening, with your money, your time, your week, your life, so you can make better decisions with your eyes open.

Mine saved me thousands I didn’t know I was wasting. Put me on a path to buying a house. Got me investing for the first time at 50. And he sits there every morning, ready, remembering everything my brain drops.

I called him Frank. You get to call yours whatever you want.
