For the Lord of the Rings devotees, visiting Hobbiton will undoubtedly be the highlight of your trip. Just an hour and a half’s drive from Auckland, the journey itself is a visual treat, meandering through lush, rolling hills that feel like they’ve been plucked straight out of a storybook.

Now, when I first saw the photos of Hobbiton, I’ll admit I had my doubts. I envisioned it being a bit gimmicky—like one of those fake movie sets where everything looks picture-perfect from the front, but as soon as you turn around, it’s all just plywood and props. But let me tell you, Hobbiton blew those assumptions out of the water.

The moment you step onto the grounds, you’re transported into what feels like a real little village. Hobbit holes are scattered charmingly around the landscape, nestled into lush, beautiful hills. The yards are perfectly sculpted, adorned with vibrant flowers and neat little fences.
