A tribute

I have thought of your journey so often. Where we met. You might not remember but it was in an office. You came in, long hair, heavy eyeliner and black clothes. I tried not to judge you but I did. It was obvious you were into heavy metal and you chatted away like I was your best friend.

I watched you and after you left I rolled my eyes. After that we bumped into each other a lot,  more than I wanted. I don’t know what my problem was, but I was nice, polite and slowly I got to know you.

I held you at arm’s length. I didnt want to be your friend.  We didn’t have anything in common and I am ashamed to admit it but I felt like I was better than you.

But our paths collided and I got to know your beautiful son. He was difficult, stubborn, passionate and only loved one thing. That’s all he talked about and all he was interested in. Oh, did I fall in love! He drove me mad one minute and then would have me giggling in the next.

You and i become closer and we went on an epic journey together.  It was hard, but you, you just kept pushing, kept going…going through pain, being uncomfortable, and you just endured.

It was inspiring. I saw over time someone find her love. You blossomed, became lighter in your spirit, your walk and you lit up the room. I watched with pride. I finally realised I was lucky to count you as a friend.

You found yourself. You started to stand up with pride.

One moment that stands out was when you stood up for me. You didnt care what people thought of you and you said, “Enough!” I know how much that took for you to do.

You have put me on a pedestal in the past but sister that time is over. You Baby have knocked me off and now it is me looking up to you. And it isn’t just me looking up!

You have become such a beautiful soul and it is not that you weren’t before but I think you were lost in the forest of fog and you couldn’t find your way.

You need to remember where you have come from – You are no longer your past. You are your present and your future. And whatever you do in life, know you have inspired others to follow their dreams.

You inspire me and I know you inspire others. Thank you for coming into my life. I am forever grateful, honoured.
